The Soump tree or desert date tree grows in very harsh hostiles environments such as the desert and Sahelian dry soils. Usually, it will be the only living plant in the areas we find it.  (Refer to pictures) Which makes it an amazing force of nature that has developed its own survival mechanism and exceptional bio-chemicals to grow in such difficult conditions.
